Weapons in Alabaster Dawn are more than just damage sticks. Each weapon type has a unique moveset, parry window, and interaction with the element infusion system. Choosing the right weapon for your playstyle and pairing it with the correct element infusion is the difference between a smooth victory and a frustrating defeat.

Alabaster Dawn features eight weapon types, each with distinct attack animations, combo chains, parry windows, and elemental infusion bonuses. Your weapon choice determines your effective range in combat and shapes your entire approach to encounters. A Greatsword user will bait and punish, while a Dual Dagger user will rush in and overwhelm with speed. There is no objectively wrong choice, but some weapons clearly outshine others in specific fights.
Weapon upgrades follow a tiered system: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each tier increases base damage by roughly 25 percent and unlocks additional perks. Rare weapons gain an extra infusion modifier slot. Epic weapons unlock a unique weapon skill. Legendary weapons — found only from secret bosses and endgame chests — double all elemental effects applied through the weapon.
You can equip two weapons at once and swap between them instantly during combat. This is essential for accessing dual-element combos as a solo player. A common setup is a main-hand weapon with your primary element and an off-hand weapon with a complementary element for triggering combos. Switching weapons mid-combo does not reset your combo count, enabling advanced mix-up strategies.
Each weapon type caters to a different playstyle. Speed, range, and best element infusion are listed below.
| Weapon | Speed | Range | Best Element Infusion | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Longsword | Medium | Mid | Fire or Dark | Balanced all-rounder. Three-hit combo chain with a charged heavy that launches enemies. Best for players who want a versatile weapon that works in any situation. The perfect parry window is generous compared to other weapons. |
| Dual Daggers | Very Fast | Short | Lightning or Ice | Speed-focused rushdown. Seven-hit combo chain with a backstep evade built into the finisher. Applies element buildup faster than any other weapon. Glass cannon: you deal massive DPS but must stay in melee range with low stagger resistance. |
| Greatsword | Slow | Long | Earth or Fire | Heavy hitter. Slow three-hit combo that cannot be interrupted once started. Charged attacks deal 3x stagger damage. Best for players who prefer reading enemy patterns and punishing with single massive hits. Excellent against armored enemies. |
| Spear | Medium-Fast | Long | Water or Wind | Zoning and poking. Longest melee reach in the game. Thrust combo can be aimed vertically to hit aerial enemies. Dash-attack covers double distance. Ideal for defensive players who want to keep enemies at range while dealing consistent damage. |
| Elemental Staff | Slow | Very Long | Light or Dark | Ranged caster weapon. Fires elemental projectiles that cost mana per shot. Charged attacks create elemental AOE zones. Cannot parry but has a teleport dodge with invincibility frames. Best for co-op support or players who prefer positioning over reflexes. |
| War Axe | Slow | Mid | Earth or Lightning | Stagger specialist. Each hit builds a stagger meter on enemies. When the meter fills, enemies are stunned for 3 seconds. Charged overhead slam is unblockable. Pairs incredibly well with Earth infusion for maximum stagger output. |
| Chain Whip | Medium | Long | Lightning or Dark | Crowd control and pull utility. Wide horizontal attacks hit multiple enemies. Heavy attack pulls a single target toward you. Air combo is a spinning AOE. Excellent for grouping enemies before unleashing elemental combos. |
| Gauntlets | Very Fast | Short | Fire or Ice | Combo-focused brawler. Builds a 10-hit combo meter that increases damage per consecutive hit. Perfect dodge grants a counter window. Requires the most mechanical skill but has the highest single-target DPS ceiling in the game. |
Each element-weapon combination produces a unique special effect. These effects are unlocked when you upgrade a weapon to Rare rarity or higher. The table below shows the most powerful combinations.
| Element + Weapon Type | Special Effect | Best Enemy Type |
|---|---|---|
| Fire + Longsword | Attacks leave burning trails on the ground for 4 seconds. | Plant and Ice enemies. Dominates Vermillion Forest and Frozen Tundra. |
| Fire + Dual Daggers | Every 5th hit triggers a fire explosion for AOE damage. | Groups of small enemies. Clears trash mobs in seconds. |
| Water + Spear | Thrust attacks create water waves that hit enemies behind the primary target. | Fire enemies and shielded foes. Bypasses front-facing shields. |
| Water + Elemental Staff | Charged orbs leave healing puddles on impact for allies. | Fire bosses. Provides sustain while dealing damage from range. |
| Ice + Gauntlets | Each punch applies a stacking slow. At 5 stacks, enemy freezes solid. | Fast enemies and dodge-heavy bosses. Locks down mobile targets. |
| Ice + Greatsword | Shattered enemies deal AOE ice damage to nearby foes. | Armored enemies and Frozen Tundra elites. Chain-shatters grouped targets. |
| Lightning + Chain Whip | Chain attacks arc lightning to 3 additional nearby enemies. | Swarm encounters and mechanical enemies. Room-clearing potential. |
| Lightning + Dual Daggers | Applies paralysis on every 7th consecutive hit, stunning for 2 seconds. | Bosses with long attack animations. Interrupts their combos consistently. |
| Earth + War Axe | Stagger meter fills 40 percent faster. Overhead slams create shockwaves. | Heavy armored enemies and elite variants. Maximum stagger lock. |
| Earth + Greatsword | Charged slam creates a rock shield that blocks one hit. | Bosses with predictable heavy attacks. Absorb the hit and counter. |
| Wind + Spear | Dash-attack range is doubled. Thrusts can push enemies off ledges. | Skyreach Peaks encounters. Environmental kill potential is unmatched. |
| Wind + Chain Whip | Spin attacks create a vacuum that pulls distant enemies closer. | Ranged enemies. Pull archers into melee range and eliminate them. |
| Light + Elemental Staff | Projectiles pierce through all enemies in a line and heal allies they pass through. | Dark enemies and co-op boss fights. Dual utility in one weapon. |
| Light + Longsword | Perfect parries release a blinding flash in an AOE around you. | Shadowveil Crypt enemies. Reveals invisible foes on parry. |
| Dark + Dual Daggers | Each hit applies a stacking poison DOT that lasts 6 seconds. Maximum 10 stacks. | High-HP bosses. Ramp up to 10 poison stacks and watch health bars melt. |
| Dark + Gauntlets | Combo kills restore 8% of max HP and grant a 10-second damage buff. | Sustained combat and long dungeon runs. Self-sustain without heal charges. |
Use Longsword with Light infusion. The Longsword has the most forgiving parry window, and Light infusion causes a blinding flash on successful parries. This build rewards defensive play: bait attacks, perfect parry, and counter during the blind window. Add the Parry Master node from the ability tree to extend the counter window by "1.5" seconds.
Dual Daggers with Lightning infusion. Stack paralysis procs on fast enemies and bosses. The 7-hit combo chain applies element buildup faster than any other weapon. Use Dash aggressively to stay on top of enemies. Downside: you die in 2-3 hits. Equip the Evasion Up armor mod and learn enemy patterns cold.
Greatsword with Earth infusion. One charged heavy attack deals more damage than a full Dual Dagger combo. Use the rock shield from the Earth-Greatsword infusion effect to safely charge attacks while tanking a hit. Best against slow, heavy bosses with long recovery windows. Struggles against fast enemies: carry a Spear backup.
The Longsword is the best weapon for most players due to its balance of speed, range, and defensive options through generous parry timing. However, Dual Daggers have the highest DPS ceiling for skilled players, and the Elemental Staff is unmatched in co-op support. Weapon choice should complement your chosen element infusion rather than being evaluated in isolation.
Element infusions are applied at the Blacksmith in the Hub using elemental essences dropped by enemies of that element type. A basic infusion costs 10 essences of the target element. Upgraded infusions at tiers 2 and 3 require rarer essences from elite enemies and bosses. You can swap infusions freely at the Blacksmith, but each swap costs 20 crystal shards.
No, each weapon holds only one infusion at a time. However, you can equip two infused weapons in your weapon slots and swap between them mid-combat with the weapon-swap button. This is the primary way to access dual-element combos without relying on a co-op partner. Advanced players carry three infused weapons to cover all enemy types in a zone.
Yes, weapon rarity directly scales infusion effects. Common weapons apply base infusion damage. Rare weapons add 15 percent extra elemental buildup. Epic weapons unlock a unique infusion-exclusive weapon skill. Legendary weapons double all elemental effects. Prioritize upgrading weapon rarity before investing heavily in high-tier infusions.
